This page is for users of the 5G/6G Essential Protocols and Procedures course by IEEE and Wray Castle. As part of the course, you have been assigned a set of four exercises in the IEEE 5G/6G Innovation Testbed to enhance your training experience.
Those four exercises are just the beginning. Your complimentary access to the IEEE Testbed will last three months, and during that time we invite you to forge your own path and explore what the IEEE Testbed has to offer. Think of it like an open sandbox where you can put your new training and expertise into effect.
If you are an IEEE and Wray Castle user, instructions for accessing the Testbed have already been delivered to you. Keep in mind that there are some minimum prerequisites and assumptions for the initial four exercises:
- A terminal (laptop or desktop) needed to log into the IEEE Testbed
- A Web Browser (preferably Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) for accessing the IEEE Testbed graphical user interface
- Linux-based SSH client software to log into the EC2 instance (example: MobaXterm)
- Familiarity with Wireshark to view PCAP logs
The four exercises will guide you through standard processes like UE registration, and also expose you to more complex scenarios like network slicing. Beyond those exercises, we invite you to dive deeper and try some of the additional tools accessible to Testbed subscribers, and explore other use cases and functionality.
Please refer to your User Guide to access the Testbed and complete the exercises. Note that the Wray Castle instance of the IEEE Testbed is unavailable for six hours every Saturday from 5PM to 11PM (EST). At that time, the instance will be reset and UE registrations will be cleared. For any support, please write to
